New Years Eve

Ah, Tiki Ti's. If you live in Southern California, you've no doubt been to this closet sized Tiki bar. It is owned and operated by the Buhen Family. Because of this family affair, it is the only place in Los Angeles (and probably California) where you can smoke inside.

Mike Sr. is the son of Ray Buhen, who was an original bartender at the historic Don the Beachcomber. Mike and his sons bring us a little slice of Tiki heaven with 92 tropical drink, hand mixed to perfection.

Before we hid in our apartment for New Years Eve (away from all the drunk drivers), I met the Fella at Ti's. It was very festively decorated and everyone was in a great mood!

The Uga-Booga Bull!

Mai Tai and my favorite,Ray's Mistake

With Rasta Jim. Ask for Jims Special. Make sure you share it, or you'll be carried out ;)

There is that Bull again!

Our new friends from Palm Springs, Mikki and Jared (I LOVED Mikki's dress!)

Getting three deep by 7:00pm!

Tiki Ti Survival Guide

It's very important that you understand people smoke inside. It's like going to Vegas, if Vegas was in a closet! The atmosphere is amazing, but if you hate smoke - you're going to hate life
Tiki Ti's is cash only (there is an ATM inside)
The Buhen's only serve Tiki drinks, beer and wine are not included on the bar list
Get there early. There is always a line after 10
Bar snacks are available, just ask your Bartender for "some munchies"

This is how I spent the rest of the evening, retiring to bed by 10:30 with this sleeping beauty.

How did you spend your New Years Eve?

    1. I believe she did :) Her sleeping patterns are still erratic. However, we do get solid 4-7 hours a night now.

  5. What a great way to spend New Year's Eve! We LOVE the Ti and try to make it down there at least once a year. Definitely overdue for another visit and your post reminded me of that. Wish we did not live 6 hours away. I miss that little bull!

    1. It's funny you mention the bull. I was talking to someone and it fell into my lap!!! I love when it stops to charge!

  6. Oh I love tiki drinks! We have a place in Denver called Adrift but it is going through the initial growing pains (i.e. the bartender renewed for his tiki drinks quit).

    1. We are really lucky here in Los Angeles. Also, check out Tonga Hut. They serve really good drinks as well. But, Ti's is the best.
